There’s no magic formula for a perfect morning or daily routine.
If you’re telling yourself you’re not successful because you can’t find the “great” one and stick to it, you’re fooling yourself.
Look at highly successful people — their routines are all over the map.
Mark Wahlberg wakes up at 2:30 am, grabs breakfasts, hits the gym, and packs his day before hitting the sack by 7:30 pm.
Warren Buffet, a modern investing legend, starts at 6:45 am, eats, reads, works, and squeezes in exercise (when he can) before calling it a night at 10:45 pm.
Alex Hormozi, a social media and entrepreneur powerhouse, doesn’t even believe in routines — he just wakes up early and gets productive.
These three incredibly successful people have achieved different things, yet their routines share no resemblance.
Trying to stick to a rigid morning routine can be frustrating and draining.
When unexpected things happen, they throw your routine off, which leaves you feeling like a failure.
Zooming out, however, reveals that successful people, like the ones mentioned above, share a few key things: they wake up consistently, prioritize physical activity, and ensure they get enough rest by maintaining a regular bedtime.
They have daily non-negotiables — things like working out, meditation, journaling — that they make time for on a daily basis, with little to no exceptions.
Take away:
- It doesn’t matter if you’ wake up at 4:00 am or 9:00 am, start with a workout or reading a book. The most important thing is to make time for the things that matter most, like taking care of yourself and getting work done. When you do these things is less important than the fact that you do them.
- Ditch the search for the ‘perfect morning routine’. It’s important to have daily non-negotiables, but it’s also equally important to be flexible. That’s the recipe for a successful daily routine.
